Who Do I Contact and How

Untitled

To report emergency or crime in progress, dial 911.

Did You Know?

If you are reporting a suspicious person or activity you should have specific information that a crime is about to be committed (i.e. prowling/casing activity). If you cannot articulate specific suspicious activity you should contact the district for extra patrol.

Community members have the right to park and occupy vehicles on the street. Having never seen the vehicle before or feeling it does not belong in the neighborhood in and of itself is not suspicious behavior.

Examples of crimes that are not 911 calls:

  • Crimes NOT In Progress (Reports)
  • Welfare Check
  • Theft / Vehicle Theft (Not in Progress)
  • Loud Music
  • Property Damage (Not in Progress)
  • Drug Dealing / Loitering (Not in Progress)
  • Abandoned Property

Victims - Online Reporting of Crime

The Milwaukee Police Department launched the new “Police to Citizen” (P2C) site. This site will allow the public to report certain types of offenses online without the need or assistance from a sworn or civilian member.
The purpose of this site is to offer individuals a convenient way to file certain types of reports online. It will also reduce the amount of calls for service which will free up officers for more serious types of investigations.
The following criteria is required to file a report online:
  • The incident must have occurred in the City of Milwaukee
  • The reporting person must be 18 years of age or older
  • A valid email address is required
The following types of reports will be accepted online:
  • Theft valued at less than $2,500
  • Vandalism / Damage to Property valued at less than $2,500
  • Lost Property
The following types of reports will NOT be accepted online:
  • Violent crime or sex-related offenses (e.g. Battery, Robbery, Kidnapping, Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Arson etc.)
  • A crime with viable suspect information
  • Motor Vehicle Theft
  • Burglary
  • Identity Theft
  • Any offense involving a firearm (to include lost/stolen firearms)

Report crime at a District Station

Each district has dedicated Community Partnership Unit (CPU) officers that work directly with local community organizations, residents, and elected officials to understand district specific concerns (including violent crime).
District CPU officers work with intergovernmental partners like the DNS Milwaukee (building code enforcement), and DPW Milwaukee to resolve district specific concerns.
